The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a Rs 1.28 per unit reduction in electricity prices on account of the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for September 2024.
According to the notification issued by Nepra, the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had submitted a request for a reduction of 71 paise per unit on account of fuel charges adjustment for the month of September.
However, the authority after reviewing the demand approved a greater National Average Uniform reduction of Rs 1.28 per unit in the applicable tariff for DISCOs.
The decision will bring relief to the consumers by decreasing their power bills. Consumers will see this reduction reflected in their November bills.
As per the notification, the reduction will be applicable to all the consumer categories except lifeline consumers, domestic consumers consuming up to 300 units, Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS), and prepaid electricity consumers of all categories.
The regulatory authority also clarified that “negative adjustment on account of monthly FCA is also applicable to domestic consumers having Time of Use (ToU) meters irrespective of their consumption level.”
“The reduction shall be shown separately in the consumers’ bills on the basis of units billed to the consumers in the month of September 2024,” Nepra orders the distribution companies.
