WEBDESK (Azaad English): In a video Questions and answers session, Reddit CEO Ben Huffman confirmed that they are planning to introduce paywalls (paid Reddit) for some of its communities in 2025.

The CEO clarified that the existing popular subreddits would remain free and that this would only apply to new subreddits or communities.

Specific plans for the paid Reddit community in 2025 are unknown at this point but when asked about it, the CEO Ben Huffman, said that “they’re working on it.”

The Reddit CEO also discussed other possible revenue streams including letting users conduct financial transactions in-app instead of using third-party apps such as Venmo and Paypal. This comes in response to a global trend by X and Discord to incentivise content creation.

Reddit’s Q4 earnings showed that the platform made $71 million in revenue, although they did post a net loss of $484.3 million for the year. Despite this, the CEO believes that the popular discussion app will be a success.

Reddit, with over 100 million active users, continues to explore new ways to grow and thrive with the introduction of paid subreddits in 2025. Huffman believes that reddits community-driven discussion platform will thrive even with the paid content.
