ISLAMABAD: Exports from Pakistan in the telecommunications, computer, and information services segment observed a notable leap of 38.66% in October, soaring to $330 million compared to $238 million in the same month last year.
Information Technology has remained the largest contributor to services exports from the country with 47.9% share during September.
On monthly comparison, data shows that IT exports grew by 13.01% in dollar terms, from $292 million in September to $330 million in October.
At the same time, the 14.11% growth observed in the sector’s imports did not exceed the level recorded in October previous calendar year and was lower by 8.82% against September.
In the first four months of the current fiscal year, the country’s IT exports reached $1.21 billion, or an increase of 34.9% as compared with the respective months of the last year.
On the other hand, the volume of IT imports for October was forecasted by the State Bank of Pakistan to reach $143 million which is the deployment of IT equipment for the year-on-year growth of 9.16% among others.
