ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan has received a $500 million loan from the Asian Development Bank, a statement said.
According to SBP, this amount will be added to the foreign exchange hold next week. “This amount is being given by the ADB to deal with the effects of climate change on Pakistan”.
It is also very important to mention here that on loan by the ADB, this amount has been released for Pakistan.
Pakistan also adds upon its ongoing commitment to securing children’s rights and interests in the face of climate change at a special event with UNICEF at the COP 29 Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The Government of Pakistan leaders signed the Declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action-a pledge by the champion governments that promise to uphold priorities identified by children and youth around the globe.
By signing this declaration, Pakistan has considerably taken its march forward towards the protection of 112 million children and young people at risk from the disastrous impact of climate change, displacement, and trauma.
Romina Khurshid, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change at the signing of the Declaration on Children, Youth, and Climate Action, said: “We commit to integrating into Pakistan’s climate policy, particularly in Nationally Determined Contributions 3.0-therefore to be the focus of COP30 in Brazil next year-child rights and needs.
