Pakistan’s food exports experienced a substantial boost at the start of the fiscal year 2024, with a 45% increase according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
In July, food exports reached over $475.7 million (around Rs132.44 billion), setting a new record for the sector.
Moreover, rice exports, including Basmati, saw a dramatic 135% increase, bringing in $205.7 million and highlighting a growing global demand for Pakistani rice. Sugar exports also surged, with a 590% increase, contributing $23.9 million to export revenue, showcasing Pakistan’s expanding international market presence.

In addition, vegetable exports doubled, earning $28.8 million, while fruit exports grew by 13%, surpassing $40 million. Other sectors, such as oilseeds and nuts, recorded a 94% increase in exports, and the meat industry grew by nearly 6%, generating $36.8 million.
Despite these gains, declines were noted in tobacco, fish, and spices exports.
