KARACHI: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a reduction in prices of Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG) for December 2024.
According to the notification, the RLNG price for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has been reduced by $0.36 to $12.90 per million British thermal units (MMBTU).
Similarly, the RLNG price for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) has been reduced by $0.25 per MMBTU, with the revised rate fixed at $12.55.
The reduced provisional RLNG prices in respect of SNGPL and SSGCL will be applicable for the month of December 2024, the notification read.
Earlier, OGRA approved a massive increase in gas prices for the current fiscal year 2024-25. According to the announcement, an 8.71 per cent increase in gas prices has been approved for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) customers, while a 25.78 per cent increase in gas prices has been approved for Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) customers.
The regulator authority has sent the decision regarding the rise in gas prices to the federal government and the final decision on the prices will be made after the cabinet’s approval.
According to OGRA, the average gas price for SNGPL has been approved at Rs 1,778.35 per MMBTU. Similarly, the average gas price for SSGC has been approved at Rs 1,762.51 per MMBTU.
