LAHORE: Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) market rates have surged by around Rs 100 per kilogramme above the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) notified rate for the current month.
The OGRA set the consumer price of LPG at 254.19 per kilogramme for November, which puts the official rates for a domestic cylinder of 11.8kg at 2,999.442.
However, the average market price of LPG has risen to 350 per kg.
The situation in the hilly areas, including Murree and Galiyat, is even worse, with LPG being sold up to Rs400 per kg.
The increase in LPG prices on the black market is attributed to the increasing demand for energy due to the beginning of the winter season.
Chairman LPG Dealers Association said that black marketing of LPG continues while the administration is not taking any action against anyone.
He added that LPG is not available anywhere at the official price and that the government has become helpless in front of the gas mafia.
Earlier today, poultry rates in Lahore city have recorded a sharp increase in open market.
According to Lahore’s official rate list, live broiler chicken prices have surged, with wholesale rates increasing by Rs. 5 per kilogram to reach Rs. 344 per kg, while the retail price has climbed to Rs. 358 per kg.
The rise is not limited to live broiler chicken alone, as meat prices have also increased. The price of chicken meat now stands at RS 519 per kg after 10 rupees increase.
Likewise, the rate for eggs is being officially announced at PKR 337 per dozen, saw an increase of Rs 3.
