Securing a new car within a specific budget in Pakistan has become increasingly difficult due to escalating vehicle prices, making even entry-level models unaffordable for many buyers.
Currently, the Suzuki Alto, considered the most economical car in Pakistan, is priced at Rs3,045,000 for its top variant, while the entry-level model starts at Rs2,331,000. The base model, however, lacks essential features such as power steering, airbags, and matching side mirrors.
For those seeking a family sedan priced under Rs5 million, the Honda City presents a notable option. Particularly appealing to buyers who value fuel efficiency and comfort but are not inclined towards Toyota, the Honda City offers two base variants within this price range.
The Honda City 1.2L Manual, priced at Rs4,649,000, is considered a practical choice for families. It includes essential features such as decent trunk space, two airbags, ABS brakes, power windows, steering switches, and an ECU immobiliser. This makes it one of the most cost-effective sedans available in Pakistan.

The second variant, the Honda City 1.2L CVT, costs just Rs40,000 more than the manual version, potentially making the automatic option more attractive to buyers seeking a smoother driving experience.
Notably, the Honda City is renowned for its superior fuel efficiency within the 1300cc segment. Despite its 1.2L engine potentially being perceived as underpowered for its size, it has not notably impacted performance for current owners. Reports from various Pakistani sources indicate that the Honda City 1.2L achieves fuel efficiency of up to 16 kilometres per litre, with some variations in city driving conditions resulting in an average of around 13 kilometres per litre. This fuel consumption rate is considered reasonable for the car’s size.
The CVT transmission in the automatic model further enhances the driving experience by offering a smoother and more seamless performance, which adds to the vehicle’s appeal.
