WEB DESK: The price of essential commodities has shot up, especially chicken meat, whose prices soared to an all-time high this weekend in most parts of the country.

Islamabad: prices almost doubled

Chicken prices have almost doubled in a week in the federal capital. The chicken meat is now available at Rs880 per kg as compared to Rs450 per kg just seven days ago. Similarly, the price of live chicken has gone up from Rs285 to Rs460 per kg and that of desi chicken to a record Rs900 per kg.

Lahore: rates far exceed government’s price list

This is a prerequisite in Lahore, which reflects the overall alarming situation. The price of broiler chicken meat has crossed Rs700 per kg while according to the rate list issued by the government, its price is Rs595 per kg. It is being reported that at known markets like Tollinton Market, chicken meat is being sold for as high as Rs730 per kg.

Peshawar: a significant surge this week

Chicken prices have recorded a sharp increase in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s capital, Peshawar. Chicken price surged by Rs70 within a week and reached Rs510 per kg. The prices of live chicken increased from Rs440 per kilogram to Rs505 per kg.

The increase has provoked concern among the citizens, marking the uphill tasks ahead for curbing inflation among the staple food products, notwithstanding claims by officials and price controls.
