Chicken prices go up in Lahore

The prices of chicken in Lahore on Saturday saw a notable rise. As per the latest data from the market, the price of meat sold by retailers has increased by Rs14 per kilo, now standing at Rs540 per Kilogramme, up from Rs526 Kilogramme the previous day.

The rising costs of chicken and eggs in Lahore have added strain to household budgets already impacted by inflation.

On the other hand, in the wholesale market, live broiler chicken prices have also increased by Rs10 per kg and currently, it is Rs359. Correspondingly, the retail price is now at Rs373 per kg. The poultry price increase which is a little too biased toward a particular meat product is a result of the current inflows through the supply chain which is influenced by the number of cattle.

Interestingly, farm-fresh eggs have also been jacked up by Rs2 to stand at Rs329 a dozen. This rise in essential food prices highlights the problems that the consumers are encountering because of the inflationary inclinations, making life expensive for the households all over again.
