WEB DESK: The federal government has announced a significant increase in tariffs on a wide range of imported beauty and makeup products as part of the Finance Bill 2024-25.

According to a notification, duties on 657 items have been raised following approval from the National Assembly. Under the new measures, makeup beauty products prices will face a 40 per cent hike, while perfumes and sprays will see a 20 per cent increase. Conversely, tariffs on imported hair clippers and hair dryers have been reduced to 10 per cent.

The notification also outlines significant duty increases on imported watches, smartwatches, and sunglasses. Additionally, the government has raised regulatory duties on numerous imported items across various categories, ranging from 5 per cent to 55 per cent, under the Finance Bill 2024.

The SRO also indicates that regulatory duties have been raised on various items under the Finance Bill 2024. These include:

  • Milk and cream (25 per cent)
  • Yogurt, butter, and nuts (20 per cent)
  • Natural honey (30 per cent)
  • Dates, figs, pineapples, and oranges (25 per cent)
  • Cherries (35 per cent)
  • Apples and lemons (45 per cent)
  • Corn (30 per cent)
  • Perfume and makeup (55 per cent)
  • Shaving cream and soap (50 per cent)
  • Overcoats, jackets, and trousers for men and women (10 per cent)
  • Track suits, rompers, shawls, mufflers, and ties (10 per cent)
  • Waterproof shoes, leather shoes, bathroom fixtures, and toilet accessories (increased regulatory duty)
  • Jewelry (45 per cent)

These adjustments reflect the government’s efforts to manage fiscal policies and import dynamics for the upcoming financial year.
