MUMBAI (Azaad English): In a major development, renowned Indian YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps on Friday has approached the Indian Supreme Court over multiple cases filed against him.

Ranveer Allahbadia, aka BeerBiceps, enjoys a significant following for his creative podcasts in India while his YouTube channel boasts over 8 million subcribers.

Allahbadia recently appeared on India’s Got Latent, a satirical parody of India’s Got Talent, where he made an offensive joke which went viral drawing intense criticism from politicians, fellow artists and social media users.

Earlier this week, multiple First Information Reports (FIRs) were filed against Allahbadia and the show’s host, Samay Raina.

According to Indian media reports, Allahbadia’s legal councel has reached the Supreme Court over the cases filed against him and requested urgent hearing of all the cases.

The petition also urged the Supreme Court to consolidate all cases. However, he Supreme Court declined to grant an immediate hearing, stating that the matter would be reviewed within the next two to three business days.

Meanwhile, Indian media also reported that Mumbai and Assam Police visited Allahbadia’s residence but found it locked. It should be highlighted that Mumbai Police also sent a second summon to BeerBiceps on Thursday after he failed to appear before the authorities to record his statement.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) India has taken strong action against the remarks made on the show and has summoned the accused individuals for a hearing on February 17 in New Delhi.

Indian comedian, Munawar Faruqui, also shared a video on an Instagram story referring to recent Ranveer Allahbadia aka BeerBiceps controversy. In the video, as a police car passed by, he joked, “Police jaa rahi hai, Beer Biceps pe,” referring to Ranveer Allahbadia’s online alias, Beer Biceps. He also added a humorous caption: “Ladka nikal gaya hai haath see!”

Apology by Ranveer Allahbadia

Ranveer Allahbadia issued a public apology in a video message on Twitter where he said, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it was not even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry.”

He added that he was not going to give any justification or reasoning but he apologised for whatever happened, saying it was not cool on his part.

He continued, “The podcast is watched by people of all ages, I don’t want to be the kind of person that responsibility lightly and family is the last thing I would ever disrespect.”
