LAHORE: The Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) has rolled out the CM’s Skilled Punjab Programme – International Placement.
The Punjab skills development initiative aims to train Pakistan’s youth for in-demand jobs worldwide.
Targeting Gulf market industries
The programme focuses on placement in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, with Saudi Arabia being a significant destination. The importance of skilled labor exports is also reflected in the remittances that, according to the Asian Development Bank, contributed 21 percent to Pakistan’s GDP in 2021.
In its first phase, the programme will equip 10,000 individuals with skills for international markets. Training will focus on industries like healthcare, construction, hospitality, and retail, which are in high demand globally.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the CM Task Force on Skills Development Adnan Afzal Chattha said the training will match the needs of these sectors. “This will boost job opportunities abroad and help share knowledge between nations,” he explained.
Driving economic benefits
PSDF CEO Ahmed Khan said the programme will position Pakistan as a hub for skilled professionals. He added, “It will provide financial stability for young people and ease the country’s economic burden through higher remittances.”
