CAIRO: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the chief adviser of Bangladesh, H.E. Professor Dr Muhammad Yunis, on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit in Cairo.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to Bangladesh for recent measures aimed at enhancing trade and travel relations between the two nations.

He specifically acknowledged Bangladesh’s decision to waive the condition of 100 per cent physical inspections for consignments from Pakistan, which is expected to significantly streamline bilateral trade.

The Prime Minister also appreciated the abolishment of the special security desk at Dhaka Airport that had been previously designated for scrutinising Pakistani passengers.

Additionally, Prime Minister Shehbaz thanked Bangladesh for removing additional clearance requirements for Pakistani visa applicants, a move that is likely to ease travel for Pakistani citizens.

The meeting highlighted a shared commitment to strengthening ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh, with both leaders emphasising the importance of mutual cooperation for regional progress.
