The New Zealand cricket team on Friday beat Pakistan in the final match of the tri-nation ODI series by five wickets at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi.

Blackcaps easily achieved the target of 243 in 45.2 overs, defeating the host team by five wickets in the Pak vs NZ match.

In the final Pak vs NZ match, Will O’Rourke conquered four wickets from the green shirts while Daryl Mitchell and Tom Latham made half-centuries, letting the New Zealand team achieve their target with 28 balls to spare.

The beginning of New Zealand’s batting looked optimistic for Pakistani fans after Naseem Shah took two wickets for 43 runs in 8 overs.

The premature optimism, however, was put to rest by Kane Williamson’s partnership with Devon Conway, who made 71 runs.

While the left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Afridi along with Abrar Ahmed and Salman Ali Agha took 1 wicket each from the blackcaps.

Agha ended the Williamson’s dangerous partnership in the 18th over while Naseem Shah made Conway his victim after he had made 31-run partnership with Daryl Mitchell.

Mitchell’s performance proved to be fatal for the green shirts as he partnered with wicketkeeper Latham to add 87 runs to the total putting New Zealand in a good position.

Toss Result

It should be highlighted that Pakistan won the toss, choosing to bat instead of bowl. It managed to give a mediocre 242 runs target to the Blackcaps before getting bowled out in 49.3 overs.

Pakistan began its batting with a rocky start after its opening batsman Fakhar Zaman got taken out by Will O’Rourke in the fourth over with just 16 runs made. However, Saud Shakeel and Babar Azam’s partnership worked up a 30-run partnership until both got knocked out in a quick succession in 11.5 overs.

New Zealand team has remained undefeated during the event after winning against Pakistan and South Africa in the opening and final matches.
