KARACHI: Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Bilawal Bhutto on Tuesday suggested Pakistanis move to Karachi due to the better air quality of the city.

In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, previously known as Twitter, the former foreign minister captioned the post, “Dear Pakistan, move to Karachi,” while sharing the AQI levels of different cities.

In his tweet, he shared the AQI of Peshawar, Multan, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Haripur, Islamabad, and Karachi. As Karachi had the lowest AQI compared to the other cities, he suggested, “Move to Karachi, Pakistan,” while sharing this data in a lighter mood.

On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz is facing criticism for being out of the country amid the severe smog conditions. Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Zartaj Gul on Monday criticized Maryam Nawaz for mishandling the smog crisis in the province and leaving the country. She pointed out that the CM had traveled to Geneva after sealing the province, calling her the ‘TikTok CM.’

The Punjab government is taking measures, but they are not sufficient to make a real impact.

Schools and some government offices have already been ordered to close until November 17, including those in the provincial capital, Lahore. On Friday, Punjab authorities closed all parks, playgrounds, museums, zoos, and historical sites in 18 districts for 10 days.
