Following Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering making changes to the national cricket team. However, according to Geo News, citing sources, Babar Azam is expected to remain as the captain for white-ball cricket after the World Cup.
The Green Shirts suffered a historic defeat against the USA on June 6 and lost by 6 runs to India on June 9. Their struggles continued against Canada on June 11, managing to chase 107 runs in 17.3 overs.
When questioned about Pakistan’s consistent poor performance, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi urged patience.

“The team is still playing in the World Cup; the nation has to be patient with them. There are still matches left to play and we should wait for the outcome of the tournament,” Naqvi said.
Pakistan’s next match is against Ireland on June 16 at the Central Broward Regional Park. While their path to the Super 8s is challenging, it remains possible. For Pakistan to qualify, the following results in Group A are necessary:
- June 14: USA vs Ireland — Ireland win
- June 15: Canada vs India — India win
- June 16: Ireland vs Pakistan — Pakistan win
