Veteran actress Atiqa Odho has disclosed her reasons for turning down the role of Shagufta in the popular drama Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, citing issues of age suitability and scheduling conflicts as her primary concerns.
Speaking on her show Kya Drama Hai, Odho expressed her respect for director Badar Mehmood but felt the role ultimately did not align with her vision.
Mehmood, who had initially approached Odho for the role, shared his perspective, explaining, “I did call Atiqa for Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum to play Mustafa’s mother, but she was extremely busy and occupied.” Odho elaborated, noting that the role was better suited to a slightly older actress.
“There’s an age difference as well,” she said, “I think Bushra Ansari is a little older, so the role suits her better.” Ansari’s portrayal of Shagufta has since garnered widespread praise from viewers.
