Asad Umar’s brother, Muhammad Zubair leaves PML-N over some ‘reservations’

Former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair announced on Sunday that he is leaving the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) due to unspecified “reservations”.

In an interview with Geo News, Zubair did not disclose the exact reasons for his departure but mentioned that he would decide on his future political endeavours after consulting with his “friends”.

Zubair is among several high-profile leaders who have recently left the ruling party, including former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and ex-Finance Minister Miftah Ismail.

The politician has been openly critical of the current government, which took office after the February 8 elections, and recently expressed his dissatisfaction with the party leadership, saying he was in the party “like Abbasi”.

Following allegations by former Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha that the election results were manipulated, Zubair urged the PML-N to “publicly accept defeat” and allow the country to move forward. Although Chatha later retracted his claims, Zubair’s stance remained firm.

While it is still uncertain whether Zubair will join another political party, Abbasi approached the Election Commission of Pakistan on April 8 to register a new political party. Ismail is also advocating for the formation of a new party comprised of individuals with “proven integrity and competence”
