Authorities concerned have decided to spray Lahore with artificial rain in order to combat worsening levels of smog in the Punjab capital.
According to Dunya News, the artificial rain initiative would cost the provincial exchequer Rs35 crore with the Environment Protection Department set to play a key role in this regard.
It is worth mentioning that the previous caretaker government had experimented with artificial rain last year.
The officials concerned are also deliberating on announcing holidays across schools in Punjab during the upcoming smog season.
Lahore declared world’s most polluted city
Smog levels in Lahore have reached alarming levels with the city recently coming off the rankings of most polluted places to live in 2024.
Lahore ranked as the world’s most polluted city earlier this month, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching hazardous levels on Wednesday, alarming citizens about the impending smog season.
Karachi ranked 17th, with a recorded pollution level of 77 particulate matter.
