KARACHI: Residents of Karachi are facing heightened concerns about street crime ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations. Two separate incidents involving livestock have highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by authorities.

In a brazen attack, four armed men on motorbikes intercepted a truck carrying 30 sacrificial goats near Kamran Chowrangi in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area. The assailants reportedly took the driver hostage before stealing the vehicle and its valuable cargo. Abdul Manan, the affected trader, has filed a police report.

“We have initiated a full investigation and are actively searching for the perpetrators,” a police spokesperson confirmed.

Adding to the worries, an attempted robbery in Karachi’s Saeedabad area left a citizen and a sacrificial animal injured by gunfire. While police apprehended one suspect, identified as Huzaifa, his accomplice, Sohail, is still at large.

These incidents come amid ongoing concerns about street crime in Karachi. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant, particularly as they prepare for the Eid al-Adha festivities.
