A happier life after getting married may not just be in fairy tales, but it is a fact that married couples are happier in life than single people.
The study was published in the journal Evolutionary Psychological Science which surveyed 6338 people from 12 different countries.
Adults who are married report being far happier than those in any other relationship status, according to the study.
During the study, the relationship between marriage and emotional health was analyzed. The people were divided into 3 groups, one group was the one that included married couples, the second was single people, and the third group consisted of people who wanted to get married but were facing difficulties.
The researchers examined the emotional health, life satisfaction, happiness, and hope of these people.
The study results showed that marriage has a significant impact on emotional health. According to researchers, after getting married, people’s levels of positive emotions and their satisfaction with life increase.
Married people have a greater sense of happiness than single people, according to a recent study.
Earlier this year, another survey conducted by Gallup Poll revealed that married people consistently reported their happiness levels higher than their unmarried counterparts, ranging from 12% to 24% higher depending on the year.
The gap was there even when researchers adjusted for factors such as age, race, ethnicity, gender, and education, the survey said.
According to the study, education is a strong predictor of happiness, but the data showed that married adults who did not attend high school evaluate their lives more favorably than unmarried adults with a graduate degree.
