Apple is reportedly preparing to make history with the launch of its slimmest smartphone yet, the iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to debut next year. Measuring just 6mm in thickness, this ultra-thin device is set to surpass all previous models, including the iPhone 6, which held the record with a thickness of 6.9mm.
Apple aims to revolutionise smartphone design with this new model, combining sleekness and cutting-edge technology. The iPhone 17 Air will reportedly feature a 6.6-inch display, an aluminium chassis for a lightweight feel, and advanced hardware, including the A19 Bionic chipset built on 3nm technology.
Expected Features
The iPhone 17 Air is rumoured to include:
- 8GB RAM for smoother performance.
- A 48MP rear camera focused on high-quality photography.
- An upgraded 24MP front camera with Face ID support.
- Apple’s custom-designed 5G modem for faster connectivity.
Despite its thin design, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to maintain Apple’s high-quality standards while introducing new AI-driven features.
Launch Details
Apple may phase out one of its existing models, such as the Plus variant of the iPhone 16 series, to make room for this new addition. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch alongside the standard and Pro versions of the iPhone 17 series in September 2025.
The iPhone 17 Air promises to be a game-changer in the smartphone industry, blending style, innovation, and performance in one sleek package.
Competition in Slim Smartphones
Apple is not alone in the race for the thinnest smartphone. Reports suggest that Samsung is also working on a super-slim device, the Galaxy S25, which could measure just 5.6mm.
