In Dera Ismail Khan, a tragic incident unfolded when seven individuals, including five officials from the Customs Department, were killed in an ambush. This attack occurred Wednesday during an intelligence-based operation near the Daraban police station’s jurisdiction.

Alongside the Customs officers, a civilian and a young girl also lost their lives in this violent assault. According to a statement from the Customs Department, the team from the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Peshawar) was targeted by unidentified gunmen along Daraban Road, close to Sagguu village. The statement mournfully declared that all five officials were martyred in the incident.

Local police reported that the attack happened when the Customs team was travelling by vehicle, which came under fire from armed assailants near the Sagguu area. The intense gunfire caused the driver to lose control, resulting in a collision with an oncoming vehicle.

The assailants escaped from the scene before law enforcement and medical teams from Rescue 1122 could arrive. The victims were transported to the District Headquarters Teaching Hospital in Dera Ismail Khan.

Aizaz Mehmood, a spokesperson for Rescue 1122, confirmed the identities of the Customs officials as Muhammad Aslam, Akbar Zaman, Aniyatullah, Shohab Ali, and Attar Alam. The civilian was identified as Sifatullah, and the minor girl was named Laiba Bibi.
