In a significant development, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Department has announced that all patients have fully recovered from monkeypox.
According to the Director of Public Health, there are currently no active cases of monkeypox in the province right now.
The director also confirmed that with patients’ PCR tests returning negative, no active cases of monkeypox remain in KP.

He further stated that the department has successfully contained the spread of monkeypox within a short period, while screening continued at key entry points, including Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar and the Torkham border, to ensure ongoing monitoring and containment.
Earlier, the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the recent outbreak of the disease a public health emergency of international concern after a new variant was identified.
Clade 1b has triggered global concern due to its tendency to spread more easily through routine close contact. However, this new variant was not detected in Pakistan.
