Federal Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has described smog as a serious threat and said that it is likely to cause 250,000 premature deaths.
It should be noted that the situation of smog in the capitals of Punjab, Lahore, and Multan, is particularly disturbing. The provincial capital has been the most polluted city in the world for many days.
Even today at 9pm, the air quality index of Lahore and Multan has been recorded as 788 and 698 respectively, which can have extremely harmful effects on health.
According to Dawn News, while addressing a meeting regarding smog and air pollution in Islamabad, he said that this problem is of our own making, and war footed measures are needed to deal with this challenge.
Ahsan Iqbal also expressed the fear of 250,000 premature deaths and the lives of children affected by smog. Ahsan Iqbal clarified that smog is also an economic emergency.
The Punjab continues to suffer from severe air pollution, this morning in the air quality index, Lahore was ranked first with around 700 points, while Peshawar was second and Islamabad third in Pakistan.
