Despite being excluded from Pakistan’s upcoming series against Ireland and England, wicketkeeper-batter Muhammad Haris has been accused of running a campaign for himself.
The accusation was made by Pakistan opening batter Ahmed Shehzad during a show on a private news channel. Shehzad accused the wicketkeeper-batter of hiring a PR team to run a campaign for himself to be included in the national team.
“Muhammad Haris hired a PR Team that ran a campaign on social media and demanded his inclusion in the national side,” he alleged.
Shehzad also questioned Haris’ “poor performances” in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine. He asked why Muhammad Haris should be selected for the team despite only scoring one fifty in the PSL 9.
The cricketer also lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for “ignoring” players who have been consistently performing in the domestic cricket for the past 10 years. “What should the players, who don’t have money to run a campaign, do?” he asked.
