Billionaire Gautam Adani has regained his position as the richest Indian, surpassing Mukesh Ambani, according to the 2024 Hurun India Rich List.
Moreover, Adani’s net worth surged by 95% to 1,161,800 million Indian rupees over the past year, bouncing back from a previous decline due to accusations by Hindenburg Research, which Adani’s conglomerate has denied.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, saw his wealth increase by 25% to 1,014,700 million Indian rupees. Last year, Adani’s fortune had dropped by 57%, with Ambani leading at 8,080,000 million Indian rupees.
In addition, the Hurun list highlights Shiv Nadar and family of HCL in third place with 314,000 million Indian rupees, while Cyrus Poonawalla of Serum Institute of India is fourth with 289,800 million Indian rupees. Dilip Shanghvi of Sun Pharmaceuticals now ranks fifth with a net worth of 249,000 million Indian rupees.

Radha Vembu of Zoho is the wealthiest self-made woman at 475,000 million Indian rupees. Zepto’s co-founders Kaivalya Vohra and Aadit Palicha are the youngest entrants with net worths of 36,000 million and 43,000 million Indian rupees, respectively.
Furthermore, the 2024 list features 1,539 individuals with wealth exceeding 10,000 million Indian rupees, a 46% increase from last year. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan made his debut on the list with a fortune of 73,000 million Indian rupees, outpacing business partner Juhi Chawla.
