Pakistan’s Abdul Mueed Baloch has once again made the nation proud by securing a silver medal at the World Cadet Games in Venezuela on Thursday. Representing the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), the 23-year-old athlete earned the silver in the 200-metre race, finishing the distance in 21.72 seconds.
The gold medal in the event was claimed by a Venezuelan competitor, who narrowly beat Baloch by completing the race in 21.69 seconds.
Earlier in the week, Baloch had already clinched a gold medal in the 400-metre race, clocking in at 48.20 seconds. This latest achievement adds to his growing list of accolades as a national champion in both the 200-metre and 400-metre categories.

Hailing from Karachi’s Shanti Nagar, Baloch has consistently represented Pakistan on the international stage, earning the title of the fastest athlete after winning the 100-metre race at the 2018 Asian Junior Athletics Championship. He also holds Pakistan’s national record in the 400-metre race, with a timing of 46.73 seconds.
Baloch’s journey in athletics began in 2015, when he, initially a passionate footballer, first took to the track at the National Coaching Centre in Karachi. In his first competitive event, the Aman Tech 100m sprint in February 2015, he clocked 12.50 seconds—a modest start to what has become a stellar career.
The fourth International Military Sports Council (CISM) World Cadet Games, which commenced on August 17, are currently taking place at the Fuerte Tiuna military base in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital. The Cadet Games, first launched in 2010, are a significant event under the framework of the CISM, showcasing the athletic talents of young military personnel from around the world.
