WEB DESK: China has inaugurated its inaugural artificial intelligence (AI) hospital town, where patients receive treatment in a virtual environment by AI-generated physicians, as per state media reports on Wednesday.
The scholars have elucidated the practical implications of this groundbreaking approach to healthcare. Recently, researchers from Tsinghua University established the “Agent Hospital” within this virtual realm. Here, all medical professionals and patients are managed by intelligent agents driven by extensive language models (LLMs) capable of independent interaction.

AI physicians can attend to 10,000 patients within a few days, a feat that would typically require human doctors at least two years. Liu Yang, the head of the research team at the Agent Hospital, highlighted that this innovative technique empowers actual physicians to treat virtual patients while enhancing the training of medical students.
Through the simulation of diverse AI patients, students can confidently devise treatment strategies without jeopardizing the well-being of real patients, emphasized Liu.
