The Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the franchise management have initiated preliminary discussions to enhance the quality of matches.
These discussions include proposals such as both teams giving two team sheets at the time of the toss, and the option of including a power surge akin to the Big Bash format.
A meeting of the PSL Governing Council was held in Lahore for the tenth edition of the Pakistan Super League, where various matters were deliberated upon. One of the points discussed was the modification in playing conditions to make future matches more interesting.
According to sources, one proposal in the playing conditions is that both teams will provide two team sheets each at the time of the toss, and after the toss, one of the team sheets will be considered final. The purpose of this is to minimize the disadvantage for the team losing the toss.
As per details, PCB is also considering to host the playoffs of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10 at an overseas venue.
Sources also indicate that discussions have been held regarding introducing the option of a power surge in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This power surge option is also present in the Big Bash League, allowing teams to take a power play of two overs at any point from the 11th over until the end of the innings, during which only two fielders are allowed outside the inner circle. In such a scenario, the initial power play will be limited to four overs.
It is said that the PSL management does not have the authority to impose impact player or X-factor-like playing conditions, but further discussions between the league management and franchise owners are expected on this matter.
The PCB has also sought recommendations from the franchises regarding this issue.
