MUMBAI: Goldy Brar, a Canadian citizen and key suspect in the murder of prominent Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, was reportedly shot dead in the United States on Tuesday.

News 18 reported that the incident occurred around 5:25 PM in California.

According to Indian media sources, unidentified assailants targeted Brar and a companion outside his residence. The attackers opened fire before fleeing the scene. Both victims were taken to hospital, but one succumbed to the injuries.

Reports suggest that Brar’s rivals, Arsh Dalla and Lakbhir, have claimed responsibility for the attack. The development is seen as the latest chapter in a violent feud between these criminal groups. Notably, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, previously linked to Moosewala’s murder, has yet to comment on the claims.

The circumstances surrounding Brar’s reported death remain unclear. Authorities are likely to investigate the incident thoroughly. This development could potentially impact the ongoing investigation into Moosewala’s murder.

The Sidhu Moosewala murder case

Sidhu Moosewala, a popular singer known for his outspoken lyrics, was shot dead in May 2022 in Mansa district, Punjab, India. The Bishnoi gang initially accepted responsibility. However, Brar later took credit for the killing in a televised statement, alleging revenge for the death of a Bishnoi associate.

Background on Goldy Brar

Goldy Brar, born Satwinderjit Singh, hailed from Muktsar Sahib, Punjab. He reportedly held a Bachelor’s degree and resided in Canada while maintaining connections in his home state. His family experienced tragedy in 2021 when his cousin, Gurlal Brar, was fatally shot, allegedly by the Bishnoi gang. This incident is believed to have prompted Brar’s relocation to Canada. Brar was previously listed among Canada’s 25 most wanted individuals.
