LAHORE: Polling is currently underway for by-elections on approximately two dozen National Assembly and provincial assembly seats. These elections, occurring after the general elections on February 8, mark a significant event in Pakistan’s political landscape. However, the electoral process is facing challenges, with cellular and internet services suspended in specific districts of Punjab and Balochistan. This measure aims to maintain law and order during the voting process.

The voting commenced at 8 am and will continue uninterrupted until 5 pm today. The federal government’s decision to suspend cellular services in certain areas during April 21-22 was announced to ensure the security and integrity of the electoral process. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) released a statement justifying this action.
