WEBDESK: An American woman, Oneja Andrew Robbins, has made headlines after traveling to Karachi for love and refusing to return home. She demands 1 lac dollars to leave Pakistan.
She arrived in Pakistan on October 11, 2024, to marry a 19-year-old Pakistani boy, Nidal Memon, whom she met online. However, things did not go as planned, as Nidal’s family refused the marriage, leaving her in a difficult situation.

Since then, Oneja has been struggling to find a place to stay. She initially lived in Nidal’s apartment building but later moved to a guest house near Nursery. However, the guest house management refused her accommodation, and multiple hotels also denied her a room. Eventually, she was taken in by a welfare organization led by social worker Ramzan Chhipa, who provided her shelter at the Chhipa Foundation headquarters.

During a press conference, Oneja stated that she is looking for her husband and is willing to move to Dubai with him. She also made a surprising demand, asking the government to give her 1 lac dollars. She clarified that she did not marry for money and has enough financial resources.

Authorities had earlier tried to arrange her return to the United States (US), even providing a ticket and financial aid through an NGO. However, she remained determined to stay in Karachi. Ramzan Chhipa assured that she would be taken care of as long as needed, with female volunteers assisting her.
