LAHORE: Lahore, the provincial capital of Lahore, to host the opening ceremony of the ICC Champions Trophy on February 16. Pakistan is hosting the ICC event after 28 years.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in a statement said that the opening ceremony of the mega event will be held at Hazuri Bagh Lahore on February 16, four days before the first match of the tournament.
As per details, PCB has finalised the schedule for the opening ceremonies of the Champions Trophy.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the renovated Gaddafi Stadium on February 7. He will also attend the ICC Champions Trophy opening ceremony, scheduled for the same day.
The grand opening of the Champions Trophy will take place on February 16, followed by a function in Lahore with dignitaries, cricketers and ICC officials.
The renovated National Stadium Karachi will hold its ceremony on February 11 which President Asif Zardari will attend as chief guest.
The opening match will be played between Pakistan and New Zealand on February 19 at Karachi.
Earlier today, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi briefed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his preparations for the ICC Champions Trophy.
The ICC Champions Trophy is set to begin on February 19, 2025.
