United States (US) Ambassador to Pakistan, Donald Blome met President Asif Zardari for the last time as the ambassador.

During the meeting, President Zardari thanked the outgoing ambassador for his services in Pakistan. He also hoped for continued growth in Pakistan-US relations.

Blome’s tenure comes to an end after playing a significant role in navigating the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

When Donald Blome was appointed?

Donald Blome was appointed in May 2022 when Biden was the president.

Ambassador Blome previously served as the US Ambassador to Tunisia, as Charge d’Affaires for the US. Mission to Libya and as US Consul General in Jerusalem. His overseas postings include Kabul, Cairo, Baghdad, Kuwait, and Riyadh. In Washington he was the Director of the Office of Arabian Peninsula Affairs.

Increasingly, the ambassador also speaks Arabic.

He was preceded by David Hale who served as the ambassador under Donald Trump.

In another news, the Congress has certified President-elect Trump’s victory.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost to Trump, oversaw the proceedings as president of the Senate.

Donald Trump will be inaugurated for his second term on January 20, 2025, in Washington. This ceremony marks a significant moment in US history.

Trump, who won the 2024 presidential election against Harris, will return to the White House this month after previously serving as president from 2017 to 2021. He is now the second president in US history to secure two non-consecutive terms, following Grover Cleveland.
