South Africa whitewash Pakistan in Test series

CAPE TOWN: South Africa clinched a dominating victory over Pakistan by 10 wickets in the second Test match held at Newlands stadium in Cape Town, claiming the series 2-0.

On the fourth day of the Test, Proteas chased a mere target of 58 to win a two-matches red-ball series in a dominating way.

Pakistan’s team was bowled out for 478 runs in the second innings after being dismissed for 194 in the first inning in reply to South Africa’s massive 615.

Green Shirts managed to achieve a 57-run lead after a follow-on, which South Africa’s openers David Bedingham and Aiden Markram surpassed in 7.1 overs.

Bedingham scored 44 from 30 deliveries, including four boundaries and two sixes, while Aiden Markram contributed 14 from 13 deliveries.

Pakistan started Day 4 with captain Shan Masood leading Pakistan’s fightback before falling to Kwena Maphaka after scoring 145. Nightwatchman Khurram Shahzad fell to Marco Jansen for 18.

Kamran Ghulam added 28 before being dismissed by Kagiso Rabada and Saud Shakeel caught at second slip for 23.

Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha showed some resistance scoring 41 and 48 respectively with Aamer Jamal hitting a quick 34 before the innings was ended.

Green Shirts faced a major blow during the game after a batter Saim Ayub suffered a broken ankle while fielding on the first morning and has to remain unhurt absent.

Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada led the bowling attack with three wickets each, while Marco Jansen and Kwena Maphaka picked up two and one respectively.
