PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Monday extended winter vacations for all the educational institutions in the summer zones (plain areas) of the province for a week due to the severe cold wave.
A notification has been issued by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Elementary and Secondary Education Department in this regard.
As per the notification, all the public and private sector educational institutions in the province will now observe winter holidays till January 6, instead of the previously announced January 1, 2025.
The decision was taken considering the health of students as the mercury drops below zero creating freezing conditions in the early morning.
Earlier, the education authorities announced the school holiday vacation in summer zones (plain areas) of the province from December 22 till December 31, 2024, with institutions resuming activities on January 1, 2025.
In addition to that, the education department declared 0two-month-long winter vacations in educational institutions across the cold zones (hilly areas) of the province from December 22, 2024, to February 28, 2025.
