ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police on Wednesday suspended two female officers over assaulting the delivery boy in the federal capital’s Blue Area.
According to the police spokesperson, DIG Islamabad Syed Ali Raza suspended the lady constables and formed an inquiry committee under the supervision of a senior officer.
“Further action will be taken in light of the inquiry report. Islamabad Police believes in the process of self-accountability,” DIG Islamabad said.
As per details, the delivery rider, identified as Aijaz, alleged he was beaten by the officers for a late delivery. The rider said his mobile phone’s battery drained, causing a delay in delivery.
Furthermore, he added that upon his arrival, the female officers expressed undue anger with verbal abuse and slapped him repeatedly. “They pointed guns at me and also snatched my mobile phone,” he added.
In another unprecedented incident, a brother killed his sister in Lahore’s Chuhang area allegedly over serving a meal late.
The mother of the deceased filed a case against her son, and police have started the investigation. Police said that efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
