TASHKENT: In another remarkable feat, Pakistan’s top weightlifter, Nooh Dastgir Butt, Commonwealth Games gold medalist, has set a new record in the Asian Powerlifting Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on Tuesday.
According to the details, Nooh lifted an impressive 400 kilograms in the squat event in the 120+ kg category, establishing a new Asian record. The performance secured him his first gold medal in the championship.
Additionally, Nooh claimed a silver medal in the bench press. However, his performance in the deadlift event fell short.
Earlier in October, Nooh Dastgir Butt made an extraordinary international debut by securing a gold medal at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Classic and Equipped Championships in South Africa’s Sun City.
The Pride of Performance Award recipient lifted an impressive 370 kg, marking a historic achievement as Pakistan’s first-ever powerlifting gold medalist.
