RAWALPINDI: A soldier was martyred while 15 terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the general area Sambaza of Balochistan’s Zhob district, said the military’s media wing on Tuesday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was conducted on the reported presence of terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
During an intense gun battle, security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, resulting in the killing of 15 khwarij. “A large quantity of weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from the killed Khawarij,” said the statement.
However, Sep Arif ur Rehman, 32, hailing from Mansehra District, embraced martyrdom after fighting gallantly during the intense exchange of fire, it added.
“The sanitisation operation is being conducted to neutralize any other Kharji present in the area,” said the ISPR.
The ISPR said that the security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country, and sacrifices of the brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve.
Earlier on December 5, Security forces killed eight Khwarij [terrorists] in two separate intelligence-based operations conducted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province.
