RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Saturday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and 25 others in a General Headquarters (GHQ) attack case.
ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah ordered Rawalpindi Police to produce all the suspects before the court on December 10.
Court issued warrants for 25 accused in the GHQ attack case including prominent PTI leaders — Ali Amin Gandapur, Shibli Faraz, Shehryar Afridi, Zain Qureshi, Kanwal Shauzab, Tahir Sadiq, and Malik Taimoor Masood.
The development came two days after the anti-terrorism court inducted PTI founder Imran Khan among 100 others in a case — registered at RA Bazar Police Station — related to the attack on the GHQ during the May 9 violent protests last year
ATC also declared 23 individuals, including Zulfi Bukhari, Shehbaz Gill, Murad Saeed, and Hammad Azhar as proclaimed absconders and issued their permanent arrest warrants in the case.
During the hearing, Judge Amjad Ali Shah issued an order prohibiting the accused from leaving the country and sent a letter to the Director-General of Immigration, directing him to enforce the ban.
The travel ban was imposed under Section 28A of the ATC Act which applies to the nominated suspects in this case. ATC judge also issued directives to confiscate the properties of the accused.
