RAWALPINDI: Senior journalist Matiullah Jan was released from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Saturday. The Anti-Terrorism Court judge approved his bail application today, leading to his release.

The superintendent of Adiala Jail refused to implement the request for the release of the senior journalist and said that we have less space, take Matiullah to Jhelum or Attock, and implement the request.

Islamabad High Court terminated the physical remand of Mutiullah Jan yesterday, Islamabad Police did not transfer Mutiullah Jan to jail on a judicial basis, today the arrest warrant was issued after Mutiullah Jan was granted bail.

Moreover, the Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad on Saturday approved Matiullah Jan’s bail plea in a narcotics case and ordered his release.

The Anti-Terrorism Court accepted his bail plea against surety bonds of Rs 10,000. The court ordered to release of him after submitting surety bonds.

The ATC on Thursday had handed over Matiullah Jan to police on a two-day physical remand.

Later, the Islamabad High Court on Friday suspended the two-day physical remand of journalist Matiullah Jan.

Chief Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Arbab Muhammad heard the Matiullah Jan plea submitted by his lawyer Imaan Mazari.
