KARACHI: The government of Sindh has announced school holidays in several areas of Karachi from November 19 to 22, ahead of the upcoming 12th edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminars (IDEAS) 2024.

The notification issued by the Sindh Education Department stated that the schools and colleges located at Sharea Faisal and Habib Ibrahim Road will remain closed from November 19-22.

The decision was taken in light of the recommendation of DIG Traffic to maintain the flow of traffic during the upcoming Ideas 2024, which is set to kick off on November 19 at the Karachi Expo Center.

Karachi police said foolproof security arrangements will be taken to ensure smooth conduct of the international event in the port city.

Karachi traffic plan during Idead 2024

A day earlier, Karachi Traffic Police issued a comprehensive traffic diversion plan for the event which will feature delegations from various countries displaying their military equipment and weapons systems.

According to the traffic police, roads surrounding the venue including the road from Hassan Square Flyover to National Stadium Road and roads connecting University Road and Stadium Road to Expo Centre will remain closed from 7 am to 7 pm during the international exhibition.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Police Karachi Ahmed Nawaz said that small vehicles will be allowed on roads around the Expo Centre while heavy traffic will be restricted.

According to the traffic plan, the road leading from Dalmia Road Stadium Signal to Hassan Square will be closed from the right side. The road coming from Nipa, University Road, and passing from Expo’s left will also be closed.
