LAHORE: The Punjab government has decided to reopen schools across the province starting tomorrow, as the smog situation has improved, except in the Lahore and Multan divisions.

The Schools in all Punjab divisions including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal District will be re-opened from Tuesday, November 19.

Earlier, the Punjab government ordered suspending all schools from November 17 to November 24 due to high pollution caused by smog.

“All educational institutions, except Lahore and Multan Divisions, shall be opened w.e.f. 19-11-2024 (Tuesday) with the physical presence of students/staff with the restrictions/precautionary measures,” read the notification issued by the Government of the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency.

The following precautionary measures should be applied, as stated in the notification: All educational institutions in these districts must observe school opening times no earlier than 08:45am. All students and staff must wear face masks. There will be a complete ban on outdoor sports and co-curricular activities until further notice. Educational institutions must introduce class-wise school closing times to avoid traffic congestion.
