A Scottish couple were left “shocked” when their missing cat, Beans, resurfaced nearly 300 miles from their home in Cumbernauld, near Glasgow, after vanishing late last month. Cara and Colin McBurnie, Beans’ owners, had searched extensively around their local area, fearing they would never see their ginger and white cat again.
The couple explained that Beans, known to roam but usually returning within a few hours for food, hadn’t come home as expected.

“We searched and searched, looking everywhere,” said Cara McBurnie, 40. “I didn’t really expect to see him again, but I joined lots of local lost and found Facebook pages, then further afield in Scotland.”
Weeks after their search began, the McBurnies received an unexpected call from Cats Protection, a charity, reporting that Beans had been found safe in Coventry, England. Thanks to Beans’ microchip, the charity was able to trace him back to his owners, ending the couple’s search and bringing an astonishing conclusion to the cat’s journey across hundreds of miles.
