MULTAN: In Multan’s Nishtar Hospital, 30 patients have been diagnosed with HIV (Human immunodeficiency viruses) following an outbreak linked to a dialysis procedure, according to hospital officials.
The incident reportedly occurred after an HIV-positive patient received dialysis at the hospital’s dialysis unit.
Following this, other patients who used the same dialysis machine were also exposed to the virus.

The hospital administration has reported that, following the diagnoses, two dialysis machines have been taken out of service, and an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the incident.
The administration suggested that some patients may have contracted the virus from external blood transfusions before treatment at the hospital, though they are exploring all possible sources of contamination.
