NEW DELHI: The Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued over 3,000 visas to Sikh pilgrims from India, allowing them to participate in the upcoming celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev’s birth anniversary.
The High Commission of Pakistan stated that the visas issued are valid from the 14th of November to the 23rd in accordance with the 1974 Agreement on Religious Tourism between Pakistan and India.
So Indian pilgrims will be crossing the Wagah Border into Pakistan on the 14th of November, with primary activities dated for the 15th of November for the celebrations at Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib.
On their tour of 10 days, the pilgrims will also visit other major gurdwaras including Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda in Farooqabad, and Gurdwara Roohi Sahib in Aimanabad.
The pilgrims will participate in the event at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur on 19th November, then after Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore, they will cross the Wagah Border back to India on 24th November.
The Board of Evacuee Trust Property has made the necessary preparations for the pilgrims to be received at the Wagah Border on the 14th of November.
Furthermore, given that it will be challenging to change the currency for them because of the very high exchange rates, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, President of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, has asked the Indian pilgrims to take US dollars along while traveling to Pakistan.
