THATTA: The death toll from the collision of six vehicles on the National Highway near Gharo has risen to five, after two more injured victims succumbed to their injuries in hospital.

The pileup occurred due to poor visibility caused by dense fog early this morning on the National Highway near Gharo.

Earlier today, six people were killed when four vehicles collided in low visibility conditions in the Thatta district of Sindh.

“Two more critically injured individuals have succumbed to their injuries, bringing the death toll to five,” the hospital administration confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Shoaib, Rehman, Nadeem, Moin, and Gul Zaman.

Four others from the 12 injured have been transferred to Karachi as their conditions remain critical.
In another fog-related incident, a passenger bus collided with a trailer parked on the roadside at M.M. Road near Darya Khan in Punjab. “Two people were killed and six others injured in the accident,” rescuers reported.

The injured and the deceased were transferred to a nearby hospital.

The bus, traveling from Uch Sharif to Rawalpindi, crashed due to poor visibility caused by the fog. The fog, which began the previous night, persisted through the morning.

In Bhakkar, another tragic accident occurred when a bus traveling from Multan to Rawalpindi collided with a trailer, killing two and injuring seven others.

A third accident took place on the Silk Road in Abbottabad, where three motorcyclists were struck by a truck, resulting in one death and two injuries.

Multiple collisions also occurred in Karoon Lal Eason and Layyah due to the reduced visibility, leaving five people injured.

Earlier today, air quality of Pakistan three major cities dropped into the hazardous category on Sunday.

According to the global pollution monitoring website IQAir, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lahore was recorded at 688, making it the world’s most polluted city.
