Five years of Kartarpur Corridor

The Kartarpur Corridor has completed five years since its inauguration, and a large number of Indian pilgrims are expected to travel to Kartarpur to participate in the celebrations on this occasion.

The event will witness Indian cricketer and senior politician, Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has been a vocal advocate for the corridor, attending the anniversary ceremony. Sidhu’s presence is significant, given his strong support for the initiative when it was first announced and his efforts to promote peace between the two countries.

This corridor, connecting India and Pakistan, allows Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit the holy Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan without needing a visa. The completion of five years marks a significant milestone for the corridor, which has played a crucial role in strengthening ties between the two nations and promoting peace and harmony, particularly for the Sikh community.

Pilgrims arriving at Kartarpur will visit the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, the revered site where Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, spent the last years of his life. Devotees will offer their prayers and pay their respects, marking the spiritual importance of the site. As part of the anniversary celebrations, a special cake-cutting ceremony will be held, symbolizing the shared joy and unity between the people of both nations.

The Kartarpur Corridor, a symbol of peace, unity, and love, which was inaugurated in November 2019, has not only facilitated easier access for Sikh pilgrims but has also helped foster a spirit of goodwill between Pakistan and India. Over the years, it has become a bridge for people-to-people contact, transcending political boundaries. The anniversary celebrations will remind everyone of the power of diplomacy and dialogue in bringing people together in the name of shared heritage and religious devotion.

The corridor’s completion and its anniversary celebrations are a reminder of the potential for peace and cooperation, as it continues to serve as a beacon of hope for future collaborations and mutual understanding.
